Ethiopia’s Zinah Gerado Senbeta broke course record in the women’s race at the 27th edition of the Ljubljana Marathon held on Sunday (22) in Ljubljana, Slovenia.
The 25 year-old who had come to this race with the fastest time on paper of 2:24.21 that she got last year at the Amsterdam Marathon, where she finished in sixth place, lived up to the race billing as she led a 1-2 Ethiopian podium finish when she crashed the old course record of 2:21.08 that was set last year by her compatriot, Dagne Siranesh Yirga with a new course record time of 2:21.05. Her compatriot Gebiyanesh came home a distant later in second place in 2:27.16 with Slovenia’s Neja Kršinar closing the podium three finishes in 2:45.30.
