All was not lost as Zena Cheptoo was reinststed back to take silver at the ongoing World U20 Athletics Centre Kasarani, Nairobi.

Ethiopia’s Milzan Alem and Uganda’s Prisca Chesang were disqualified enabling Cheptoo to take the silver after finishing in 3:17.12

Cheptoo timed 3:17.88 while Ethiopia’s Mizan Alem who clocked 3:13.12 won the race for gold. Carla Dominguez Spain closed the first three podium finishes in 16:45.44 won a rare bronze, courtesy of the two disqualifications.
