Joseph Mosonik coach to Africa javelin record holder Julius Yego clinched the national Masters Athletics title at the Moi International Sports Centre, Kasarani on Thursday.
Mosonik from Western managed a throw of 46.40m during World Masters Athletics Championship trials to march the accomplishments of his athlete Yego of securing the national title.

Francis Komu who captained Team Kenya during the last edition of World Masters Athletics Championship in Perth, Australia returned 4:03.08 to win heat one of men’s 1500m before timing 14.40.09 to emerge best in 5000m.
The 2002 and 2010 Commonwealth Games 5000m bronze medallist Innes Chenonge emerged top in the women’s 5000m by clocking 35:38.03.
Chenonge edged out the 2006 Melbourne Commonwealth Games women’s 5000m gold medallist Isabella Ochichi into third place in 36:41.01 behind second placed Miriam Wangare in 36:08.08.
Former national 100m record holder Tom Musinde was in good form after winning the men’s 100m 200m dash to twice beat the 2011 All Africa Games 4x400m relay gold medallist Vincent Mumo.
Musinde clocked 10:04 ahead of Mumo in 10:08 before timing 22.4 to beat the two time 4x400m Commonwealth Games relay silver medallist.
The 2010 Delhi Commonwealth Games 400m champion Mark Mutai lived to his billing by winning the one lap race in 50:08.
The trials will come to an end on Friday beginning with the half marathon where Joseph Kibunja guide to 5000m and 10,000m Paralympics record holder Henry Wanyoike will be in contention.
The event will be used to select a team that will represent Kenya in the World Masters Athletics Championship in Malaga, Spain slated for September 4-16.
