Yared Nuguse smashed the five-time Olympian, Bernard Lagat’s American mile record by more than seconds and became the second fastest Millers Indoor at the 115th edition of Millrose Games held at the Armory Track in New York.
The 23 year-old became the second fastest Mile Indoor behind the 2019 World 10,00m silver medallist, Yomif Kejelcha from Ethiopia.
The North American indoor record holder for the 3000m went all out as he went through the 800m mark 1:53.8 and ran the second half in 1:53.5 to crash Langat’s fifteen years Wanamaker Mile record of 3:49.98 with a new Mile record of 3:47.38
Great Britain’s Neil Gourley came home in second with a leading European time of 3:49.46 while the reigning Commonwealth Games 1500m champion Ollie Hoare from Australia, closed the podium three finishes with a personal best of 3:50.83.
