The 2020 World half marathon bronze medallist champion, Yalemzerf Yehualaw smashed the African all-comers’ record at the Ethiopian Great Run 10km Race that was held on Sunday (23) in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
The 22 year-old who is the world second fastest half-marathon runner displayed one of the greatest performances ever experienced in this part of the world as she smashed the African all-comers’ record of 30:55 that had been set by Sheila Chelangat from Kenya in 2019.
Yehualaw defended her title as she broke the race course record by over one minute when she cut the tape in a time of 30:14 and she was followed closely by Girmawit Gebregziabiher who was forced to finish in second place twelve seconds later. Boki Diriba finished in third place in 27:24.
