Kenya’s Collins Kemboi Kipsang stormed to the victory at the 23rd edition of the Dresden Marathon held on Sunday (22) in Dresden, Germany.
The 26 year-old broke away at the 35k mark from the leading group of three that included Shadrack Kiptoo Kimaiyo and Bernard Chirchir and steadily steered the ship, cutting the tape in 2:10.42 missing the course record of 2:10.02 set in 2019 by his compatriot Ezekiel Koech by 40 seconds.
Kipsang who hails from Kimawit Athletics Club, led a 1-2-3 Kenyan podium finish as he was followed by Kimaiyo in 2:12.57 with Chirchir closing the podium three finishes in 2:22.46.
Kipsang pocketed Kshs 875,073 (5,500 euros).
