Kenya’s Shelmith Nyawira Muriuki has set her eyes on breaking the course record at the VnExpress Midnight Marathon set for Sunday (11) in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.
The 39 year-old who was part of the team Kenya to the Commonwealth Games, comes to this race with a life time best of 2:33.00 that she got at the 2019 Gran Canaria Marathon where she took the top honors.
Muriuki who is the reigning Kuala Lumpur Standard Chartered Marathon champion, targets to lower the race course record of 2:45.09 that was set in 2016 by Hoang Thi Thanh from Vietnam.
Muriuki believes she has prepared well for the race and if it goes according to the plan and training then she is capable of lowering the race course record.
” I am very excited to race here in Vietnam and hopeful for the good results and God willing take down the course record,” said Muriuki.
