World 800m champion Mary Moraa has withdrawn from the 47th edition of the Brussels Diamond League Meeting slated for today in Brussels, Belgium.
The 23 year-old who is also the Commonwealth Games 800m champion, was to participate in women 400m race where she holds a life time best of 50.38 which is also a Kenyan National record.
The Kisii express as she commonly known back here in Kenya took to her social media page, facebook to inform her fans on why she was pulling out of the event.
“Good morning lovely people, Unfortunately, I won’t dance for you this evening at the Brussels Diamond League. I was to compete in 400m but failed to travel due to unavoidable circumstances,” said Moraa.
The “dancing queen” assured her fans to expect her back with a bang at the Prefontaine Classic meeting where she intends to defend her Diamond League title.
“Expect me at the Prefontaine Classic Wanda Diamond League Final in Oregon, USA where I am set to defend my 800m title, and perhaps, unleash the last jig of this incredible season. Wishing my colleagues competing in Brussels best of luck,” she said.
Moraa was to battle with three athletes who have gone under the 50 seconds mark this season led by the 2019 European 400m Indoor silver medallist, Cynthia Bolingo from Belgium who holds the fastest time this season of 49.96 followed by reigning World 4×400m relay champion, Lieke Klaver from the Netherlands of 49.81 and the double World 400m hurdles silver medallist, Shamier Little from USA who also comes with a season best of 49.68.
