Kenya’s Kiprop Tonui overcame a stiff competition to win the men’s title at the 15th edition of the Kuala Lumpur Marathon held on Saturday (30) in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
The 37 year-old who has finished in position two in the last four years found the right formula this season to finally clinch the coveted title in 2:13.49.
“The strategy I used in my race was a result of my training in Kenya to keep a sustained pace and it worked today,” said Tonui
Tonui led 1 -2-3 Kenyan podium finish as he was closely followed by John Nzau Mwangangi in second place in 2:14.03 with Moses Kiptoo Kurgat closing the podium three finishes in 2:14.22.
Tonui pocketed Kshs 2,225,250 as prize money.
