The reigning Two Ocean Half Marathon champion, Mbuleli Mathanga has passed this morning at his home in South Africa.
The 29 year-old who is a two time South African 10,000m National Champion passed on this morning after a short illness though full details will be rolled out in due course.
The family through his coach Mdu “Vura” Khumalo released a brief and requested for privacy as the family deals with the extreme hard situation.
The release reads, “Dear family as you have more than likely seen on social media this morning, this is one of the hardest messages I have ever had to send. This morning we tragically lost Mbuleli Mathanga, a soft spoken, gentleman, enigma of an athlete. Coach has asked that you respect his family and fellow team members until an official statement has been released. And i respectfully ask that you please respect coach today as he deals with this extremely hard situation today.”
