The Athletics Integrity Unit (AIU) has banned Felix Kipchumba Korir anmd Emmanuel Saina both from Kenya for three years each for the Presence/Use of a Prohibited Substance (Norandrosterone) (Article 2.1 and Article 2.2) which is a violation of the World Athletics Anti-Doping Rules.
Koris who is the 2018 Nanjing Marathon champion was tested in August 17 while Saina who won the 2018 Buenos Aires Marathon provided a urine sample for an out-of-competition in Eldoret on August 18.
Their ban begins from September 9, 2022.
Norandrosterone is a banned substance under the WADA 2022 prohibited list which is placed under the anabolic androgenic steroids category.
Kenya is one of seven Category A nations deemed by the AIU to have the highest doping risk and threaten the overall integrity of the sport, along with Bahrain, Belarus, Ethiopia, Morocco, Nigeria and Ukraine. It is the only nation with fewer athletes than Russia suspended for doping violations.
