Double Ugandan National Champion, Janat Chemusto has been provisionally suspended by the Athletics Integrity Unit (AIU) for the presence/use of a Prohibited Substance (Norandrosterone), which is a breach of the World Athletics Anti-Doping Rules.
The 25 year-old who is also the 2014 Commonwealth Youth Games 3000m bronze medallist, hanged with the leading group for the first two-and-a-half laps at the KipKeino Classic in Nairobi, engaging her gear with 500m to go, leaving the leading group gasping for air as she buried the field, closing in 59.8 seconds for her final 400 to win by almost three seconds in as astonishing time of 4:01.79 from 4:14.30, that left everyone in awe including her coach, Addy Ruiter and her agent, Jurrie van der Velden.
Chemusto became the second fastest Ugandan athlete in 1500m with a time of 4:01.79 lagging behind the National record holder, Winnie Nanyondo who holds the time of 3:59.56.
