South Africa’s fastest man, Stephen Mokoa was beaten to second place by Ethiopia’s Adane Kebede Gebre at the 16th edition of Sanlam Cape Town Marathon held on Sunday (15) in Cape Town, South Africa.
Mokoka who is the course record holder with a time of 2:08.31 that he set five years ago was used as a pacer by stubborn Gebre who refused to lead the entire race but waited patiently until the time he saw the finish tape and dashed for a sprint finish leaving the South African with no option but settle in second place in 2:11.30 with the Ethiopian taking the honors in 2:11.26.
Kenya’s Bernard Kipkorir closed the podium three finishes in 2:11.48 with his compatriot Joshua Kipkemboi Kogo coming home in fourth in 2:11.52.
