Just six month after bulldozing his way into the leadership of the Athletics Eswatini, President Zakhele Dlamini has found the going tough as twelve out of the seventeen clubs who are the membership of the Association have pulled together to call for a special General Meeting (SGM) with the sole purpose of passing a vote of no confidence against the office of the president.
Through the Manzini Athletics Club and other clubs, the members have triggered article 15.1 of the constitution of the Athletics Eswatini which states as follows;
The executive board may at any time, of its own accord, or shall, upon receipt in writing of a request from at least one half plus one of the members, call a general meeting, which shall be known as a ‘Special General Meeting’.
Through the letter in our possession, dated 08/09/2023 and addressed to the secretary general, the members have lost confidence in the current administration led by Dlamini that has not been consistent with their expectations to members as well as the constitution.
The members will convene the meeting within fourteen days commencing from the day of receiving the request as per the constitution.

The twelve Clubs that want president Selby Dlamini leadership voted out.
This seems to be the end of the beginning for the seasoned sports administrator and it’s just a matter of days before his entire leadership is shown the door as the numbers aren’t on his side and his bravado governance comes to a stop.
The AE communication officer, Victor Dlamini is in receipt of the said motion of no confidence and he is waiting communication from the executives.
AE president Dlaminiwas was elected in May unopposed as his only opponent Selby Shongwe, withdrew at the eleventh hour allowing him to become president for a second term.
These are twelve clubs that are against Dlamini leadership;
- Manzini Athletics Club
- Mbabane Athletics Club
- Nhlangano Track Club
- Ngculwin
- Mhlatane
- Slojos
- Enjabulweni
- Golden Foot Club
