World Cross Country Tour preparations have gone a notch higher after the Local Organizing Committee came out with the outline of the event set to be one of the most successful in all the series that has happened across the world.
The race will be held at the Lobo Hotel grounds in Kapseret, Uasin Gishu County on February 12th 2022.
The Athletics Kenya Nairobi Region chairman, Barnabas Korir chaired the meeting in Eldoret where he he held a consultative meeting with LOC team led by Central Rift chairman Abraham Mutai, coach David Letting, Joseph Chemuren, and technical team that will engage the community starting from the county governments of Elgeyo Marakwet, Nandi, Baringo and Uasin Gishu that covers Central and North Rift regions to organize meeting.
“This will be the final meeting on the World Athletics Cross country Tour series that we were awarded hosting rights, just like the Continental Tour track and field and we want to make sure we succeed. So today, we had to go through the list of activities that have to be done. The preparations of the venue are very important, organizing the broadcaster and finding out who will come on board to broadcast live locally and internationally. We are also doing the final budget so that we present it to the government,” said Korir.
He said that now with the venue already identified, the course already measured they have a plan that they are going to implement as soon as possible within this Christmas period, with a test event set for 27th January during the national cross country championship.
