Kenya’s Viola Chepngeno made it a clean Kenyan sweep at the 4th edition of the Boston Half Marathon held on Sunday (13) in Boston, United States.
The 24 year-old had to battle for honors with Ethiopia’s Bosena Mulatie who was the fastest athlete on paper with a time of 1:05.46 that she got early this year at the Ras Al Khaimah Half Marathon where she finished in position eight.
Chepngeno held off the 20 year-old Ethiopian to cut the tape in a time of 1:10.40 with Mulatie forced to settle in second place in 1:10.43.
“I’m happy. So, so happy,” said a smiling Chepngeno. “The rain was cold. But I am happy so much!”
The 2012 World Junior 3000m silver medallist, Hiwot Gebrekidan closed the podium three finishes in a time of 1:11.09.
United States 10,000m record holder, Molly Huddle and her fellow Olympian, Molly Seidel finished in twelfth and sixteen place in 1:13.29 and 1:16.22 respectively
