World 10,00m silver medallist, Daniel Simiu lived up to the race expectations as he ran away with the men’s title at the 18th edition of the Vedanta Delhi Half Marathon held on Sunday (15) in Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, Delhi.
The 28 year-old who is also the Commonwealth Games 10,000m silver medallist, came to this race with the fastest time on paper of 59:04 that he got last year at the Bahrain Royal Night Half Marathon where he took the silver.
Simiu led a 1-2 Kenyan podium finish as he took the honors in 59:27 which is his third career fastest time with Charles Matata coming home in second in a new personal best of 1:00.05.
Ethiopia’s Addisu Gobena wrapped up the podium three finishes in a time of 1:00.51.
The race course record of 58:53 set two three years ago by Ethiopia’s Amedework Walelegn remains standing.
