Valentine Kipketer wins the 2021 Standard Chartered Nairobi Marathon

The 2013 Amsterdam Marathon champion, Valentine Jepkorir Kipketer took the top honors at the 18th edition of the Standard Chartered Nairobi Marathon that was held on Sunday (31) at Carnivore Grounds in Nairobi.

Kipketer beat a rich field that included the 2019 Taipei City Marathon Naomi Maiyo to cut the tape in a new personal best of 2:30.01 with Maiyo coming home in 2:32.22.

‘’This was my first time participating in the Standard Chartered Marathon and I am very pleased with my performance. I have been training for a better part of the year with a couple of teammates and I was confident that I was well trained and prepped for the race. I look forward to participating in other races including international ones’’ she concluded.

Beatrice Cheptoo closed the first three podium finishes in 2:32.33.

Uganda’s Rebecca Cheptegei took fourth place in 2:33.34 with the 2017 Mombasa Marathon winner Shelmith Muriuki finishing in fifth place in a time of 2:34.13

Kipketer pocketed a cool Kshs 2 Million.
