The Tokyo Olympic 1500m silver medallist, Timothy Cheruiyot won another silver medal at the Commonwealth Games being held at the Alexander Stadium in Birmingham, United Kingdom.
In a world-class field which included the men who finished second, third and fourth in the Olympic final last summer: Cheruiyot, Josh Kerr and Abel Kipsang, all were upstaged by Ollie Hoare, who won the race in Commonwealth Games Record time of 3:30.12 and becoming the first Australian to win gold in this race since Herb Elliott in 1958, when the event was known as the 1 Mile race.
Cheruiyot who was edged out at the finish was forced to settle in second in a time of 30:21.14.
World Champion, Jake Wightman was forced to settle in third and take the bronze medal in 3:30.53, after losing the lead in the last 100m.
