Olympics 1500m silver medal champion, Timothy Cheruiyot has been promoted from the from chief Inspector of Prisons to Senior Superintendent of Prisons through a directive from the head of state for his exemplary performance.
The Commissioner General of Prisons, Wycliffe O. Ogallo presided over the event and he was full of praise to Cheruiyot.
“You have made us so proud and you totally deserve this promotion because it’s all through hard work and resilience because this is what we believe in,” Ogalla said.
Cheruiyot was beaten to second place by Norwegian sensation Jakob Ingebrigtsen, who produced what felt like the umpteenth coming-of-age performance of his young career to take his first Olympic title.
The 25 year-old, who in recent years has had that title reserved him but not longer, as he was defeated Ingebrigtsen, who produced one of the finest finish he broke the Olympic and European record when he crossed the line in 3:28.32
