Ethiopia’s Tigist Girma missed the course record with thirty seven seconds at the Sydney women Marathon held on Sunday (18) in Sydney, Australia.
The 29 year-old who came to this race with the fastest time on paper of 2:19.52 that she got at the Amsterdam Marathon in 2019 where she finished in second place, lived to the expectations as she tried to chase the race course record of 2:24.33 that had been set by Stella Barsosio from Kenya in 2019 but she could not lower it as she claimed the title with the second fastest time on Australia soil of 2:25.10.
Girma led 1-2 Ethiopian finish as she was followed closely by Letebrhan Haylay who crossed the finish line in second in 2:25.45 with Eritrean Nazret Weldu closing the podium three finishes in 2:26.14.
