Teenage sensation Martin Magengo Kiprotich surprised many when he trounced a deep field at the Uganda National Cross Country championships held on Saturday (10) in Tororo, Uganda.
The 19 year-old beat a strong field that included African U20 Silver medallist, Samuel Kibet, reigning NN Zevenheuvelenloop champion Rogers Kibet and the reigning Semi Marathon de Lille champion, Andrew Rotich Kwemoi.
Kiprotich who started his International journey at the World Athletics U20 Championships in Nairobi pulled a surprise win as he cut the tape in 29:35 and was followed in second place by Samuel Kibet in 29:43 with Samuel Kibet closing the podium three finishes in a time of 29:46.
Rogers Kibet and Denis Cherotich came home in fourth and fifth place in a time of 29:50 and 29:51 respectively.
