Kumari Taki wins 1500m race in Hengelo

Taki, Barsosio and Changwony sent back to Kenya for alleged doping malpractices

The 2016 world U20 1500m champion, Kumari Taki was shown the door from the Commonwealth Games after being suspected for doping malpractices.

Taki who started off his season with a bang in the men’s 1500m race at the Fanny Blankers-Koen Games was sent back home from the Team Kenya camp in Birmingham together with two marathoners Stella Barsosio and Purity Changwony who were also stopped from competing on the eve of the women marathon.

The number of athletes who have been sent home has now increased to four after Philemon Kacheran Lokedi was provisionally suspended by the Athletics Integrity Unit (AIU) for the Presence/Use of a Prohibited Substance (exogenous Testosterone) (Article 2.1 and Article 2.2) which is a violation of the World Athletics Anti-Doping Rules.
