Kenya’s Eric Kiplagat Sang took the top honors on his debut at the 15th edition of the Venloop half marathon held on Sunday (15) in Venloop, Netherlands.
The 21 year-old endured the high temperatures with lead group of seven who shoved each until the half way mark that Sang engaged a high gear leaving them behind as he forged a head cutting the tape in a new personal best of 1:00.55.
Sang was followed by his compatriot Moses Koech who crossed the line in a time of 1:01.20 with Yakoub Labquira from Morocco closing the podium three finishes in 1:02.03.
Kenya’s Edwin Yator and the 2016 African silver medallist in 10,000m, Wilfred Kimeli Kimitei, who was the race favorite came home in fourth and fifth place in 1:02.58 and 1:03.11 respectively.
