Keneth Renju suspended for doping

The Kenya National 10,000m Champion, Keneth Kiprop Renju has been suspended indefinitely by Athletics Integrity Unit (AIU) for the Presence/Use of a Prohibited Substance (Methasterone), which is a breach of the World Athletics Anti-Doping Rules.

The 25 year-old, beat a strong rich field in April this year at the Kenya National Championships, that included Abraham Longosiwa, former Olympics silver medallist Paul Tanui and Japan based athlete Wesley Kimutai.

Renju is also the reigning Prague Half Marathon and Lisbon Half marathon.

Another win for Keneth Kiprop in Lisbon

Just a week after lifting the Kenya National 10,000m Championships title, Keneth Kiprop was at it again running away with Lisbon Half Marathon title on Sunday (8) in Lisbon, Portugal.

The 25 year-old who will represent Kenya at the Africa Senior Championships that will be held from June 8-12 in Mauritius.

The 25 year-old who beat a strong rich field that included the North Rift region 10,000m champion, Abraham Longosiwa, former Olympics silver medallist Paul Tanui and Japan based athlete Wesley Kimutai took charge of the race at the 18km and held on to cut the tape in a time of 1:00.13 with Mohamed Esa from Ethiopia coming home in second place in 1:01.00.

Elvis Kipchoge Cheboi closed the podium finishes in a time of 1:01.03.

Julius Kipkwony takes the 10,000m title at Kip Keino Classic

Julius Kipkwony is the man with a mission as he sets his focus towards winning a medal at the 22nd edition of the Africa championships that will be held from 08 June to 12 June in Reduit, Mauritius.

Chepkwony who trains at the Torongo Training camp in Baringo County ran away with the honors in the men’s 10,000m at the 3rdd edition of the Kip Keino Classic, the World Athletics Continental Tour that is being held at the Moi Sports Centre, Kasarani.

Chepkwony took the honors in the 25 lap race in a time of 28:28.34 ahead of Wesley Kimutai who crossed the line in second place in 28:32.09 with North Rift region 10,000m champion, Abraham Longosiwa closing the podium three finishes in a time 28:35.01.

Chepkwony used this event as part of his training and preparations for the continental championships.  “I’m so happy to have won the race and I had to run a calculative race. Winning today has given me more energy to go and work on my training endurance and speed because Africa Championships will be competitive,” said Chepkwony.

Keneth Renju runs away with 10000m title at the National Championships

The reigning Prague Half Marathon champion, Keneth Kiprop Renju ran away with the 10000m men’s title at the Athletics Kenya National Championships that was held on Wednesday (26) at the Moi International Sports Centre, Kasarani.

The 25 year-old who was representing the Western Region, beat a strong rich field that included the North Rift region 10,000m champion, Abraham Longosiwa, former Olympics silver medallist Paul Tanui and Japan based athlete Wesley Kimutai who was representing Central Rift.

Kiprop took charge of the 25 lap race after Tanui found the going too tough for him and he decided to drop after the 12 laps, leaving Longosiwa, Kimutai and Kiprop to battle for honors.

Kiprop was too good for Kimutai and Longosiwa as he pulled away from them with three laps to go, increasing his pace and forging ahead with huge strides to cross the line in a time of 28:06.67 with the latter coming home in second in 28:32.89.

“I am happy with this win and ready to represent my country in this event at the Africa Senior Championship,” said Kiprop.

Longosiwa was left with no option but to settle in third place in 28:40.89.

Kenya Prisons Service, Geoffrey Korir and Benson Monshon from Nairobi Region came home in fourth and fifth in a time of 28:43.33 and 28:44.45 respectively.

Athletics Kenya will use this championship to pick the team that will represent the country in the coming Africa Senior Championships that will be held from June 8-12 in Mauritius
