Another National Record by Yasmin Can

European two time champion Yasmin Can, failed to take the top honors but she managed to set a New National Record in the Women 10km Road to Records Race that was held on Saturday (30) Herzogenaurach, Germany.

The Kenyan born Vivian Jemutai now trading for Turkey under Yasemin Can, was among the race favorite as she came carrying on her shoulder a personal best of 30:26.41 in 10,000m race that she got at the Rio Olympics where she finished in seventh place.

Can is also a four time European Cross Country Champion, a silver medallist in European Indoor games and a two time European U23 Champion.

The 25 year-old who has never competed for Kenya in professional races and who became officially eligible to represent Turkey at international competitions in 2016, improved on her previous time and set a new Turkey National Record of 0:32:04.

The race was won by Fantaye Belayneh Azale who also set a new Ethiopian National Record and a personal best of 30:25.

Nicholas Kimeli smashes the 22 year National Record

The 2021 Tokyo 5000m fourth finisher, Nicholas Kipkorir Kimeli smashed the 22 years 5k record at the Road to Records Race that was held on Saturday (30) Herzogenaurach, Germany.

The 23 year-old who ran 5,000m in Hengelo setting a sub 13 life time best, fought for honors with the 2019 World silver medallist, Yomif Kejelcha, who was too good with his lightening speed that forced Kimeli to settle in second place with a time of 0.12.55 which made him to be the fastest Kenyan in the 5km history, erasing the 22 years history of 12:59.5, that had been set by Sammy Kipketer in 2000 in Carlsbad, United States.

Kejelcha won the race with a world-leading time and personal best of 0:12.53.

Bahrain’s Birhanu Balew also set a New Bahrain National Record when he finished in third place in a time of 0:13.07.

Crippa breaks the European and National Record in Germany

The 2018 European 10,000m bronze medallist Yemaneberhan Crippa broke the Italian 5km record at the Road to Records Race that was held on Saturday (30) Herzogenaurach, Germany.

The 25 year-old who is also the 2017 European Athletics U23 Champion wrote history as he set a new men’s 5km European and Italian National Record, when he finished in fourth place with a time of 0:13.14, erasing the previous record of 13:18 that was set in 2020 by Jimmy Gressier.

The race was won by the 2019 World 10,000m silver medallist, Yomif Kejecha from Ethiopia who posted a world leading time and a life time best of 0.12.53.

Yomif Kejecha runs the World third fastest time at Road to Records

The 2019 World silver medallist, Yomif Kejecha took the honors in men’s’ 5km race with the third fastest time ever at the Road to Records Race that was held on Saturday (30) Herzogenaurach, Germany.

The 24 year-old who came to this race with a World mile record of 3:31.51 that he set in 2019 in Boston was on another level after a series of injury that have kept him out for sometime but proved that he is back in shape as he thrashed a strong field that included Olympic fourth finisher in 5000m, Nicholas Kimeli.

The 2016 World Indoor 3000m champion was too good for the Kenyan as he accelerated his speed with 300m remaining to cut the tape in a World leading time and a new personal best of 0.12:53 with the latter coming home in second three seconds later.

Only the World record holder Berihu Aregawi and Joshua Cheptegei have gone faster over 5km than Kejelcha.

Bahrain’s Birhanu Balew wrote history as he finished third with a new National Record of 0:13:07.

 

Fantaye Azale sets a new Ethiopian 10km National Record

Ethiopia’s Fantaye Belayneh Azale wrote her name in the history books in the Women 10km Road to Records Race that was held on Saturday (30) Herzogenaurach, Germany.

The 21 year-old who is a 5,000m specialist with zero experience on the road race gave her all to beat a strong field that included the Kenya reigning National Cross Country champion, Joyce Tele and Sheila Chepkirui the African Champion.

Azale came to this race with a personal best of 14:44.51 that she got at the 2021 Ethiopian National trials in the 5,000m race where she finished in position six. She waited patiently until the one kilometer mark to make her move with a super lightening speed and held on to set a new Ethiopian National Record and New personal best of 30:25.

Azale was followed by Tele who came to this race with the fastest time on paper of 30:59.01 that she got at the 2021 FBK Games, in Netherlands when she came home in second place in a time of 30:33 with Chepkirui closing the podium three finishes in 30:35.

Joyce Tele to battle Sheila Chepkirui,Yasemin Can as they chase the 10k world record

The reigning National Cross Country champion, Joyce Chepkemoi Tele will lead a strong elite field as they attempt to break the Women 10km Road to Records Race that will be held on Saturday (30) Herzogenaurach, Germany.

The 26 year-old who holds a life time best of 30:59.01 that she got at the 2021 FBK Games, Blankers-Koen Stadion in Netherlands took the honors last week at the Kenya Defence Force Track and Field Championships, where she trounced a strong field in the 25 lap race that included the reigning Roma Ostia Half Marathon champion, Irene Kimais when she crossed the finish line in a time of 31:55.09.

Tele comes to this race with a life time best 31:38 that she got at the 2019 10K Valencia Ibercaja where she finished in seventh place.

Tele will battle for honors with the African Champion, Sheila Chepkirui and European two time champion Yasmin Can.

Chepkirui has an added advantage as she raced here last year where she finished second behind the late Agnes Tirop who smashed the then World 10km Record in a time of 30:01 with the latter coming home sixteen seconds later.

Brenda Jepleting beats a strong field to lift Road To Records half marathon title

Kenya’s Brenda Jepleting was the surprise winner of the Road To Records half marathon that was held on Sunday (12) at the Adidas headquarters in Herzogenaurach, Germany.

Jepleting took charge of the race at the 15k mark and never looked back to cross the line in a lifetime best 1:06:52.

She was followed by Besu Sado from Ethiopia who pulled 1:08.15 to take silver with Brillian Jepkorir from Kenya closing the first three podium finishes in 1:08.28.

Ethiopia’s Tgise Haileselase and Irene Jepchumba from Kenya finished in fourth and fifth place in 1:08.30 and 1:09.02

Abel Kipchumba runs a world lead at the Road To Records half marathon

Kenya’s Abel Kipchumba took the top honors in the Road To Records half marathon with a world lead time at the Adidas headquarters in Herzogenaurach, Germany.

Kipchumba led 1-2-3 Kenyan podium finishes as he destroyed the fastest three race favorites that included Alfred Barkach from Kenya of PB 59:46, Girma Bekele Gebre from Ethiopia who was third at the 2019 New York City Marathon and Teklemariam Medhin from Eritrea who had a PB of 61:47.

Kipchumba gave a powerful kick in the 100m to cut the tape in a personal best of 58:48, securing the world’s fastest men’s half marathon time of 2021.

“I am very happy with the personal record,” said Kipchumba.

The race organisers had assembled a strong field to try and lower the world half marathon record of 57:32 that was set in Valencia by Kibiwott Kandie.

Kipchumba lowered the previous world lead time of 58:57 that had been set by Felix Kipkoech from Kenya early this year.

Alexander Mutiso crossed the fine line in second place with a personal best of 59:20 with Amos Kibiwot closing the first three podium finishes in 59:3.4.

Kenya’s Raymond Magut and Phenus Kipleting finished in fourth and fifth place in 1:00.00 and 1:00.08 respectively.

Rhonex Kipruto sets his eyes on world record in Germany

Rhonex Kipruto the 10km world record holder will target to lower his own record at the Road to Records race which will be held on Sunday (12) at the Adidas headquarters in Herzogenaurach, Germany.

The battle to lower the record has been dubbed, “Road to Records” after their signature racing shoe.

Kipruto who is also the World under-20 5,000m champion came within two seconds of the world record at the 2018 Birell Prague 10km race an IAAF Gold Label road race. His winning time of 26:46 is the second-fastest 10km performance in history behind Leonard Komon’s 26:44 world record from 2010.

Muktar Edris, the two-time 5km world champion from Ethiopia who of late has been in great shape, beat Mo Farah a two-time double world champion and two time double Olympic champion at the 2017 World championships in London.

The two have been paired together to try and lower the current world record set by Kipruto of 26:24 in January 12, 2020 in Valencia Spain.

Other assembled athletes to look after include Weldon Langat who has a personal best of 27:24.73 that he got early this year in Nairobi, Nicholas Kimeli from Kenya who also has a personal best of 12:51.78that he got in 2020 in Monaco, Italy and Birhanu Balew from Ethiopia who has a personal best of 27:07.49, which is also national record, that he got at the 60th Ostrava Golden Spike in Ostrava, Czech Republic.

Italy will be represented by Eritrean born Italian Eyob Faniel who holds the Italian record over the half marathon of 1:00.07.

Olympic Marathon champion Peres Jepchirchir will be a special guest.
