Paul Navesey wins Brighton Half Marathon

Great Britain’s Paul Navesey won the 31stedition of the Brighton Half Marathon that was held on Sunday (10) Brighton.

Navesey took an opportunity when his two competitors strayed away to get a drink from the water stand for him to pull away from them and never looked back to cut the tape in 1:08.10.

He was closely followed by Marcus England in a time of 1:08.55 with James Turner closing the podium first three finishes in 1:09.29.

“As soon as they went to get a drink, I ran a bit faster,” he told The Argus after the race.

Navesey holds the race course record that he set in 2019 with a time of 1:04.56.

“Winning is always really, really nice. I’d have liked to have got close to my course record, but maybe in February for the 2022 event,” he said.

In the women race it was tears of joy as Bobby Searle won her first Brighton Half Marathon win in front of an adoring home crowd.
