Kenya’s Lydia Cheromei won the 4th edition of the Marathon International de Rabat that was held on Sunday (4) in Rabat, Morocco.
The 40 year-old beat a strong field that included race favorite Megertu Alemu and Muluhabt Tsega to cut the tape in 2:28.48.
While speaking to the press she said, I thank God for enabling me to win today’s race. I was targeting to lower the course record but I missed it due to the weather but am very happy with the win.”
The course of 2:28.06 that was set by Pamela Rotich in 2016 will remain intact.
Alemu came a distant second in 2:31.33 with Tsega taking third place in 2:33.23.
