The 2013 Africa U20 3000m steeplechase silver medallist, Marion kibor took the top honors at the 31st edition of the Rochelle marathon held on Sunday (27) in Rochelle, France.
The 28 year-old who was also the 2017 National women champion over the water and barrier race, ran with ease as she was too familiar with this course after winning the 2019 edition.
Kibor who was the race favorite, came to this race with the fastest time on paper of 2:28.30 that she got at this year’s Generali Geneve Marathon where she finished in second,
Kibor commanded the race with her pacer, Maxime Bargetto from France from the early stages of the race until the very end as no one could keep up with her pace as she surged ahead alone, improving her time as she cut the tape in a new personal best of 2:25.15.
France’s Agate Violleau who hails from a running family came home a distant second in a time of 2:40.06 with Kristin Colard who finished in fifth in last year’s edition, closing the podium three finishes.
