Kenya storms to the 4x100m finals

The Kenya team for 4x400m of Peter Kithome, Joshua Wanyonyi, Elkanah Kiprotich and Kennedy Kimeu qualified into the finals of the men’s relays finals at the ongoing world under 20 championships being held at the Moi International Sports Centre Kasarani, Nairobi.

Kithome started the baton, with Wanyonyi, Kiprotich and Kimeu to finish second in heat one behind Jamaica team with 3:05.77 and Kenya coming second 3:05.82 as Botswana claimed the last automatic qualifying place in 3:06.33.

Kimeu said setting the fastest qualifying time sets the momentum for them ahead of the final.

 

Kennedy Kimeu and Sylvia Chelangat sail through to the finals in 400m race

Kenya’s hope in the 400m race at the World U20 Championships were kept high as the young sensation Kennedy Kimeu qualified to the finals at the ongoing championships at the Moi Sports Centre Kasarani.

The 18 year-old qualified to the final after posting 47.05 behind South African Lythe Pillay who carried a personal best of 45.53 that he got in February in South Africa.

In the women’s race Sylvia Chelangat posted a personal best of 53.49 to finish second behind Imaobong Nse UKO fromNigeria who pulled 52.33 to claim the first position in heat three.
