World Indoor 1500m bronze medallist, Abel Kipsang continued his dominance in the three-and-three-quarter laps race, as he defeated the Olympic 1500m silver medallist Timothy Cheruiyot for the second time at the Doha Diamond League Meeting that is being held this evening (Friday 13) in Doha, Qatar.
The Olympic record holder over the distance was too good for the deep elite field that included the 2019 World 10,000m silver medallist, Yomif Kejelcha, World Cross country champion Tadese Lemi and Kamar Etiang.
Kipsang who came to this race with the fastest time on paper of 3:29.56 crossed the finish line ahead of Cheruiyot in a time of 3:35.70 with the latter coming home in in 3:36.16.
Lemi finished in third place in 3:37.06.
Ethiopia’s Kejelcha and Etiang finished in fourth and fifth place in 3:37.85 and 3:38.83 respectively.
