Kenya’s Isaac Koech ran away with course record of the 4th edition of the Douala International Marathon that was held on Sunday (31) in Douala, Cameroon.
Koech who led a 1-2-3 Kenyan podium finish smashed the race course record of 2:15.00 that had been set last year by Justilin Foimi from Kenya, setting a new course record of 2:14.56. He was by Hilary Kiptom Too and Mathew Kosgei closing the first three podium finishes.
In the women race again it was a show of might as Kenya took all the three podiums finishes as Isgan Cheruto took the honors and she was followed by Rolex Jelimo with Careen Cheptoeck taking the third slot.
Kenya’s Isaac Koech smashed the course record of the Seine-Eure Marathon that was held on Sunday (10) in Seine, France.
Koech edged out his closest rival Khalid Lablaq from Morocco at the 35km mark and never looked back cutting the tape in 2:12.50.
Lablaq came a distant second in 2:16.25 with his fellow country-mate Alaa Hrioued closing the podium three first finishes in 2:17.31.
Ethiopia’s Bedada Tola Geremu came home in fourth place in 2:21.43.
In the women’s race Kristin Colard took the honors in 2:42.40 to beat Kenya’s Prisca Kiprono who pulled 2:51.03 to finish a distant second.
