Ezekiel Koech wins Luxembourg Marathon with a stunning 15-minute lead

Kenya’s Ezekiel Koech took the top honors with a stunning lead at the 15th edition of the ING Night Marathon held on Saturday (28) in Luxembourg City.

The 37 year-old was accompanied up to the 10K mark by his compatriot Gedion Kipchirchir before letting go inexorably and winning with an abysmal time of 2:15.44.

“I enjoyed racing in Luxembourg and I’m super happy with my time. It is not the first time that I have been present in Luxembourg, which makes this victory even more beautiful,” said Koech.

Koech who led 1-2-3 podium finish was later on followed by Kipchirchir who crossed the line in second place after 15 minutes and 57 seconds.

Morocco’s Alaa Hrioued closed the podium three finishes 19 minutes and 30 seconds after Koech.
