Work on the World Cross Country route begins

The World Cross Country Tour series that will be held in Kapseret, Uasin Gishu County next year in February will be all about creativity which will be the main attraction of the event.

Athletics Kenya technical director Ibrahim Hussein said, while on a tour of the venue at the Lobo grounds, said that the race, named after the late Agnes Jebet Tirop on February 12th will be wide and attractive.

Hussein, who had accompanied technical team from Golazo Sports to mark and approve the route, said they will complete the course in two days.

“With cross country it gives room for creativity to create the course which we are going to start to mark the course  in two days’ time ,as you have seen the course is wide and scenic .” said Hussein.

“Right now, the experts are marking and designing the course which we are going to seat down and make a good one. The event will host top cream athletes because there will be no world cross country next year,” said Hussein.

AK Vice president in-charge of competitions Paul Mutwii led the contingent to the venue that included Jimmy Geeraerts, Lennert Aldelhof, Greg Broekmans and Christopher Rwenji.

“This was a good plan to host such a big event in Africa and as a nation, we are happy to host the first edition of World Athletic Tour,” said Mutwii.

The sediments were echoed by AK, Central Rift region chairman Abraham Mutai said the event will be good for the local athlete to get opportunity to run in a world event.
