Burudi’s Francine Niyomukunzi was the top female winner at the 19th edition of the Cremona Half Marathon that was held on Sunday (17) in Cremona, Italy.
Niyomukunz held off her fierce opponent from Kenya Teresiah Kwamboka Omosa when she gave a kick of her life to cut the tape in1:12.03 with Omosa crossing the line 13 seconds later.
Italy’s Giovanna Epis finished in third place to take the bronze medal in 1:13.16.
Another Burudian Cavaline Nahimana came home in fourth in 1:14.22.
The race course record of 1:08.27, that was set by Moroccan-born now trading for Bahrain, Nadia Ejjafini, remained intact.
