Julius Kogo and Brilliant Jepkorir rule at Crim Festival 10 mile

Kenya’s Julius Kogo and Brilliant Jepkorir took top honors at the 42nd edition of the  that was held on Saturday (25) in Flint, Michigan.

The race which was marred by delay and disjointed finish saw runners take wrong turn finishing earlier than anticipated.

The start was delayed by more than an hour as thunderstorms rolled through the city. However, the delay was called after the top-flight of runners had already started and race organizers called them back about a half mile in to restart the race.

The public address announcer told the more than 10,000 registered racers to seek shelter on Aug. 25 shortly after the first wave of runners took off around 8 a.m.

The confusion did not hamper 33 year-old who pulled through the heavy rains to take home his seventh title as he cut the tape in 47:50 and was followed by his fellow country-mate Kiprop Mutai who crossed the line in 48:12.

Ethiopian Daniel Mesfun closed the first three podium finishes in 48:21.

In the women race it was joy for Kenya once again as Brilliant Jepkorir led a 1-2 kenyan podium finish as she took the top honors cutting the tape in 54:05 with Vicoty Chepngeno following her closely to cross the line 39 seconds later and Emily Harper closing the podium three in 54:44.
