Purity Komen wins the 10000m race at the third AK Track and Field meet

Purity Komen took the top honors in the 10,000 metres women race at the 3rd Athletics Kenya Track and Field Meeting event that was held at Nyayo National Stadium on Friday (5) in Nairobi.

The Kenya defense Force (KDF) athlete took charge of the 25 lap race through the midway and went solo cutting the tape in a time of 32:33.81.

Komen beat Agnes Mumbua, who took the honors at first AK Track and Field event at this same venue as she was forced to settle in second place in a time of 33:10.43.

Emily Chebet closed the first three podium finishes in a time of 33:26.69.

Emily Chebet beats Winfred Yavi at the Nairobi Cross Country Championships

Emily Chebet beat the Kenyan-born steeplechaser Winfred Mutile Yavi of Bahrain in one of the most entertaining race of the day at the Nairobi Cross Country Championships senior men’s 10km on Saturday (15) at the Kenya Prisons Service ground.

Chebet played a second fiddle to the 2018 Asian Games 3000m steeplechase champion in the last two of the five lap course but thereafter took charge of the race creating a gap that could not be closed to cut the tape in 32:13.2.

Yavi who had come to this event to test her endurance and speed was forced to settle in second spot in a time of 32:23.7.

Mercy Chepkorir closed the first three podium finishes in 33:03.8.

Anne Naasisho and Emilly Chepkorir finished in fourth and fifth place in 34:22.3 and 34:31.0 respectively.

Sharon Chelimo wins the 2021 Eldama Ravine Half marathon

West Pokot’s Sharon Chelimo defeated her opponents to lift the Eldama Ravine Half marathon that was held on Saturday (30) in Ravine, Baringo County.

Chelimo beat her closest challenger Catherine Reline as she cut the tape in 1:12.55 with Revine coming in second in 1:13.15. Uasin Gishu’s Jackline Chekal completed the podium three in a time of 1:13.36.

Beatrice Chepkemoi and Viola Chepngeno finished in fourth and fifth place in 1:14.21 and 1:14.42 respectively.
