Ethiopia’s Tadu Teshome destroyed the course record at the 43 edition of the Barcelona Marathon that was held on Sunday (7) in Barcelona, Catalonia, Spain.
Teshome who was making her marathon debut put her focus on the race course record that had been set in 2019 by Kuftu Tahir who is also from Ethiopia of 2:24.44 and she never disappointed as she shook off almost two minutes.
The 20 years-old ran a race of her life as she set a new personal best and new course record of 2:22.53.
Teshome led 1-2-3 Ethiopian podium finish as she was followed a distant later by Sisay Meseret Gola who crossed the line in a new personal best of 2:24.09 with the 2018 World Half Marathon Champion, Meseret Belete closing the first three podium finishes in a new personal best of 2:24.04.
The three Ethiopians all ran under the old course record.
