Dutch National Sifan Hassan stormed to the second fastest women’s marathon in history as she ran away with the Women marathon title in an Area Record time at the 45thh edition of the Chicago Marathon held on Sunday (08) in Chicago, United States.
Sifan crushed the old course record of 2:14.04 that had been set in 2019 by Brigid Kosgei from Kenya with a new course record time of 2:13.44
The race defending champion and the 2019 World Marathon champion, Ruth Chepngetich, was left with no choice but to settle in second place second in a time of 2:15.37 with this year’s LOndon Marathon silver medallist, Megertu Alemu from EThiopia wrapping up the podium three finishes in 2:17.09
