Six weeks after stunning a deep elite field with her powerful finishing kick at the London Marathon, the double Olympic champion, Sifan Hassan produced an outstanding display in the women’s 1500m race at the 22nd edition of the Fanny Blankers Koen (FBK) Games in Hengelo, Netherlands.
The women 5km world record holder beat a strong field on home ground that included the reigning Montreuil International Meeting champion Nelly Chepchirchir from Kenya.
Hassan who is also the double world champion took the honors in a time of 3:58.12 with the 19 year-old Kenyan sensation coming home in second place in a new personal best of 3:58.96.
“I am just from running the marathon, the change was extremely hard so I wanted to see where I am,” said Hassan.
