The USA team arrived in Tokyo with three of the fastest 100-meter sprinters in the world this year, making it the heavy favorite to win the men’s 4×100 relay.
Team USA trotted out four of its fastest sprinters – Trayvon Bromell, Fred Kerley, Ronnie Baker and Cravon Gillespie – in the preliminary round of 4×100 competitions, finishing sixth in their heat.

The U.S. finished behind China, Canada, Italy, Germany and Ghana in its heat, with a time of 38.10 with top three teams automatically qualified for the final, with the next two fastest advancing on time.
