Kenya’s Sheila Jerotich took the top honors in style at the 43rd edition of the Istanbul Marathon that was held on Sunday (7) in Istanbul, Turkey.
Jerotich who has not raced in two and half made a surprise jump at the 500m mark to pass her fellow country-mate to forge a head and cut the tape in 2:24.15.
Chepngeno was forced to settle in second place after her legs refused to carry her in the last 200m to cross the line in second six seconds later.
Ethiopia’s Ayanthu Abdi closed the first three podium finishes in 2:24.45.
