The 2018 Commonwealth Games women marathon finalist, Sheila Jerotich will fight for top honors at the 26th edition of the Ljubljana Marathon that will be held on Sunday (23) in Ljubljana, Slovenia.
The 33 year-old who finished in fourth place in Gold Coast, comes to this race with the second fastest time on paper of 2:23.01 that she got this year at Vienna City Marathon where she took the bronze medal.
Chepkirui who is also the 2021 Istanbul Marathon champion will battle for honors with African U20 Championships Silver medallist, Sentayehu Lewetegn from Ethiopia. The 26 year-old also carries a personal best of 2:22.45 which is the fastest time in this event that she got at the 2018 Frankfurt Marathon where she finished in sixth place.
The reigning Lagos City Marathon champion, Siranesh Yirga Dagne from Ethiopia and her compatriot Maeregu Hayelom Shegae have also been drafted in the elite list as they also come with third and fourth fastest time of 2:24.37 and 2:24.42 that they both got at the Rock ‘n’ Roll Madrid Maraton and Košice Peace Marathon respectively.
Kenya’s Janet Ruguru Gichumbi is another title contender who holds a personal best of 2:25.57 that she got in April this year at the Paris Marathon where she finished in eight place. This will be her third marathon for the 29 year-old.
