Kenya will be represented by two athletes in the women 800m final that will take place on day four at the ongoing 4th edition of the World Deaf Athletics Championships that are being held at the Lublin Athletics Stadium in Poland.
Sharon Jeptarus Bitok and Rebecca Wankio Matiko will be carrying the Kenyan hope as they will face strong opponents from Uganda and Japan.
Bitok comes to this race a season best of 2:28.50 while Matiko comes with a sb of 2:38.00.
They will have to battle for honors with Uganda’s Jennifer Nyakato who has the fastest time on paper of 2:10.30. Another title contender is Japan’s Mio Okada who carries on her shoulder a season best of 2:14.37.
In the men 800m race Kenya will be represented by Elikan Kiprop Rono, Francis Nyamweya Rondi and John Kiplangat Koech. Rono holds the fastest time of 1:57.20 between the three.
They will face a stiff challenge from Spain’s Jaime Martinez Morga who has a season best of 1:51.48 and Poland’s Michal Pawel Kulpa of a sb of1:53.00.
The day will end with the 4x400m race with Kenya starting on lane seven.
