Reigning World Mountain running champion Patrick Kipngeno will lead seven Kenyan athletes at this year’s Mountain and Trail Running championships set to be held at the Innsbruck-Stubai, Austria.
The championships start today 10th June 2023 with Kipngeno tagging along Hillary Kimaiyo, Josphat Kiprotich and Philemon Ombogo Kiriago.
The Women team will be led by the double world mountain running champion Joyce Njeru, alongside Philaries Jeruto Kisang and Valentine Jepkoech Rutto.
Last year, the federation entered three athletes in the championship and the athletes will compete in 85km long trail, 44km short trail, up and down vertical run, and 13.7 km mountain classic events.
The team will be led by the Chairman of the Athletics Kenya Mountain and Trail Running, Peter Angwenyi. The team will depart tonight at 2315 hours.
