African Games 20km Race walking champion Samuel Gathimba wrote history as he won the first ever medal for Kenya at the World Athletics Race Walking Team Championships that was held on Saturday 95) in Muscat, Oman.
Gathimba wrote history as he walked away with the first ever bronze medal in the Race walking race when he crossed the line with a season best time of 1:23.52.
The race was won by Japan’s Toshikazu Yamanishi with with a time of 1:22.52 and was followed by his teammate Koki Ikeda.
The 34 year-old is also the 2018 Commonwealth Games bronze medallist.
Simon Wachira also from Kenya finished in 33rd place in a time of 1:30.17 while the 2017 World Under-18 10,000m bronze medallist Dominic Ndigiti came home in 43rd place with a time of 1:35.42.
African Games 20km women champion, Emily Ngii crossed the line in 19th place with a season best of 1:42.39.
