The 2014 World Half Marathon bronze medallist, Sally Chepyego Kaptich will be chasing the race course record at the 39th edition of the Mainova Frankfurt Marathon that will be held on October 30, 2022 in Frankfurt, Germany.
The 36 year-old comes to this race with the fastest time on paper of 2:21.06 that she got at the 2019 Berlin Marathon where she finished in position three.
Kaptich who shares the same management (Global Sports Communication) with World Marathon record holder Eliud Kipchoge, will face a stiff line up that includes her compatriot, the 2015 World Athletics Championships silver medalist, Helah Jelagat Kiprop who comes to this race with the third fastest time of 2:21.27 that she got at the 2016 Tokyo Marathon where she took the top honors.
The two will battle for honors with Yeshi Chekole as she comes to this race with the second fastest time of 2:21.17 that she got early this year at the Seville Marathon.
The race organisers have assembled this strong deep elite field to try and chase the race course record of 2:19.10 that was set in 2019 by Valary Aiyabei from Kenya in 2019.
“With three runners who have already run under 2:22, we have a very strong women’s field on the start line,” said the Race Director Jo Schindler. “We’ve noted the interest shown by top runners in the Mainova Frankfurt Marathon. Despite the two years break which was caused by the Corona pandemic, the race continues to enjoy a strong reputation and runners know that we can offer a course and atmosphere which make setting personal bests a real possibility. Our aim is to create a unique running experience for mass and elite competitors alike and to see many beaming faces at the end of race day.”
