Kenya’s Betsy Saina won the 42nd edition of the Paris Marathon that was held on Sunday (7) in Paris, France.
The 30 year-old who was debuting at this race took control of the race at the 38km mark after Ethiopian Amane Gobena fell at the 35km mark near the water station point who also happened to be the fastest in the lineup.
Saina opened a small a gap over Ruth Chepngetich and went on to cut the tape in 2:22.55 with the later coming in second four seconds later. Ethiopia’s Gulume Chala closed the podium three finish in 2:23.06.
Ashete Bekele from Ethiopia and Stella Barsosio from Kenya took the fourth and fifth place in 2:23.27 and 2:23.43 respectively.
