Ethiopia’s Alemtsehay Asefa Kasegn destroyed the race course record at the 36th edition of the Taipei City Marathon held on Sunday (18) in Taipei, Taiwan.
Kasegn who came to this race with a life time best of 2:24.42 that she got in April of this year at the Enschede Marathon where she took the bronze, defended her title when she smashed the old course record of 2:27.36 that was set eleven years ago by Helena Kirop with a new course record of 2:25.55 but shamefully, organizers let a random amateur guy break her tape and the camera/commentary focused on him instead of her.
Kenya’s Lilian Jelagat finished in second place in 2:30.13 with Khishigsaikhan Galbadrakh from Mongolia closing the podium three finishes in a time of 2:32.23.
Naomy Chepkorir Tuei and Hanna Kristina Lindholm from Sweden came home in fourth and fifth place in a time of 2:33.27 and 2:33.35 respectively.
