Kenya’s Purity Chepkirui and Winnie Jemutai sailed through to the 1500m race on third day of the World U20 Championships that are being held at the Moi International Sports Centre Kasarani.
Chepkirui took pole position in heat two her race in 4:22.10 which was faster compared to the first heat.
“I am so happy to win this race. I planned to qualify for the finals and fight for gold for my country in the finals,” Chepkirui said.
Jemutai came home in 4:26.47 taking second place in a race that was won by Ethiopian Diribe Welteji of 4:26.26.
